All items are handmade and are one of a kind from foraged wild and domesticated plants. I collect whatever is in season on my daily walks, usually in the Philadelphia area. The composition of my pieces range from traditional (using whole, pressed flowers and leaves) to more abstract. Each piece involves laying jewelry-grade resin in several layers, over several sittings.
All handmade jewelry will have natural imperfections, and thats what gives each piece their alluring details, originality and soulful nature. Variations and "imperfections" are not unwelcome.
2021 was the year for 17 year periodical cicadas! Smaller and with a wholly different coloration than annual cicadas, watching them emerge from the ground, molt, have a party, and then die by the tens of thousands was a naturalists dream. To many people, it felt like an alien invasion, if the aliens were completely apathetic to us and our existence. I forage wings from naturally deceased cicadas, many of whom already had body parts eaten by predators (the wings are really the only inedible part of the insect) and commemorate the benevolent invasion in jewelry and wall hanging. They are truly magnificent. What a show.
50mm long brass charm with greater wing, and smaller charm attached to the side with the lesser (back) wing, used for steering. Finished with a chunky gold plated chain and lobster clasp.
Orange tabby not for sale.
