All items are handmade and are one of a kind from foraged wild and domesticated plants. I collect whatever is in season on my daily walks, usually in the Philadelphia area. The composition of my pieces range from traditional (using whole, pressed flowers and leaves) to more abstract. Each piece involves laying jewelry-grade resin in several layers, over several sittings.
All handmade jewelry will have natural imperfections, and thats what gives each piece their alluring details, originality and soulful nature. Variations and "imperfections" are not unwelcome.
Brass 60mm long polygon, black backed with the last of season's poison hemlock flowers. Finished with 24 inches of gold plated brass chain and lobster clasp.
Conium maculatum is the plant that killed Theramenes, Socrates and Phocion. In ancient Greece, hemlock was used to poison condemned prisoners. Conium comes from the Ancient Greek κώνειον – kṓneion: "hemlock". This may be related to konas (meaning to whirl), in reference to vertigo, one of the symptoms of ingesting the plant.
